Aeroplan Mile Maximizer [Nov 2009 Issue]

Aeroplan members can earn more than four miles per dollar spent when purchasing flights and services from aircanada.com and partner companies and paying with their Aeroplan co-branded credit card through Dec. 20, 2009.

Members who purchase an Air Canada flight within North America on aircanada.com will receive twice as many miles as they would normally earn. Members will also earn double miles when booking a car rental with Avis or a hotel stay with Delta Hotels and Resorts or Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Plus, when you use your CIBC Aerogold Visa or CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite card to pay for your eligible Air Canada flight, Avis car rental or hotel stay with Delta or Fairmont, you'll earn an additional 100 percent bonus. Pay with your American Express AeroplanPlus card and receive one bonus mile per dollar spent.

Bottom line: Double miles are always welcome, but the Mile Maximizer offer is limited to very few partners, and you must carry an eligible Aeroplan credit card to receive the full benefit from this promotion. A car rental with Avis normally earns between 250 and 500 miles per rental and a hotel stay with Delta or Fairmont earns 500 miles per stay, so the double mile offer for these partners won't bring in a lot of extra miles. But you can also receive double miles for the actual hotel or car rental purchase with an eligible credit card, which makes this promotion more valuable.
